Changing KDE Arioso fixed font

Red Hat Linux 7.2 users may run into a bug that prevents changing the fixed-width font selection in KDE's Control Center. By default, the KDE fixed-width font is Arioso, a script font definitely not suitable for reading pages of text.

To change the font from the default (Arioso) to Courier, perform the following steps:

  1. vi $HOME/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals
  2. In the [General] section, replace:

    fixed=fixed,10,5,15,50,0

    with
    :

    fixed=Courier,10,5,15,50,0

  3. Restart KDE.
